CETIN Serbia powers its network with 100% renewable electricity
CETIN Serbia recognises the urgency of addressing the climate change and the important role that businesses play in reducing global CO₂ emissions. Transitioning to renewable energy is a key part of the company’s commitment to meet the science-based decarbonization targets aligned with limiting global warming to 1.5°C.
Since 1 January 2022, CETIN Serbia has powered its entire mobile network using green-certified renewable electricity backed by guarantees of origin. The energy is sourced from the Djerdap I hydroelectric power plant and covers all electricity used to operate base stations across the country.
In 2024, CETIN Serbia consumed 65.6 GWh of renewable electricity, reducing Scope 2 emissions by 63,437 tCO₂e and Scope 3 emissions (Energy Supply category) by a further 19,031 tCO₂e. The transition represents a major milestone in the Group’s decarbonisation journey.
The renewable energy is sourced under guarantees of origin that certify its renewable nature. CETIN Serbia’s long-term commitment shows that integrating ESG principles into core operations supports both global climate goals and long-term business resilience—demonstrating that growth and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand.
“Responsible, continuous action is essential to achieving global climate goals. By powering our network with 100% renewable electricity, we show that business growth and environmental responsibility can—and must—go hand in hand.”
