In this edition of People Beyond the Network, we meet Peter Kukura, Chief Information Officer at CETIN International, a role often associated with platforms, data, and transformation, but lived through talented people and everyday decisions.
Why does Sami Fetyani, Business Applications DevOps Expert at CETIN Bulgaria feel like a kid in a candy store every time a new workday begins? Today at People Beyond the Network, the answers reveal the real dynamics behind a field that is (unfairly) seen as “uninteresting”. Oh, and there is also a unicorn involved.
Today, we bring you into the world of Irena Milojević, Head of Network Infrastructure Design at CETIN Serbia – to explore the technical mastery and human perspective behind one of the most foundational roles in our industry. Irena’s curious story guides us on a journey into her career at CETIN, the meaningful lessons of the e& Emerging Talents programme, and the often-unseen complexities of designing resilient, future-ready networks.

In Czechia, operators tend to adopt and implement new technologies relatively early in the investment cycle, which repeats roughly every eight years. Customers are also used to this, and there are usually enough compatible end devices on the market. Czechs simply have a relationship with modern and fast technologies. That's a good thing. We were one of the first to implement not only 5G technologies, but also extra capacity in higher frequency bands, known as C-BAND. This is nothing unusual; the Czech Republic has always been at the forefront of previous generations of telecommunications innovations.
As Hungary’s first mobile telecommunications infrastructure provider, CETIN Hungary has a longstanding commitment to sustainable data transmission. Our sustainability strategy consists of four distinct, yet interconnected pillars. The technological pillar is the backbone of our existence, through which we design, build, and operate high-quality networks. We also offer innovative solutions in the field of security. Through the environmental pillar, we strive to minimize the impact of our business activities on the environment, going beyond legal and other requirements. Our social pillar focuses on people. In addition to our extensive well-being program and regular charitable and sponsorship activities, supporting young people is close to our hearts. The STEMpowered by CETIN free talent program aims to support young girls before they make career choices, helping them see technical and technology-related professions as real and attractive opportunities.
In January 2024, CETIN Bulgaria launched the EU co-funded 5G Balkans project to strengthen fibre optic infrastructure along the Sofia–Dimitrovgrad corridor, part of the TEN-T Orient/East-Med network, a key EU transport route under the Trans-European Transport Network. The project supports the future rollout of 5G-enabled Connected and Automated Mobility (CAM) services and reflects CETIN’s broader ESG ambitions.
