Our targets

In addition to reducing our own environmental footprint, we also engage with employees, customers, and suppliers to be more environmentally conscious. To allocate its resources efficiently, CETIN International has prioritized energy efficiency and climate change, waste management, and the circular economy as focus areas for its environmental strategy. We plan to formalize Group-wide strategy in one overarching policy, articulating our commitments and environmental goals.

Reduce Scope 1+2 and Scope 3 GHG emissions

Our holding company e&PPF Telecom Group has set near-term company-wide emission reductions in line with climate science with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). Within the framework e&PPF Telecom Group B.V. commited to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 42% by 2030 from a 2022 base year and absolute scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods and services, capital goods and fuel- and energy related activities 25% within the same timeframe. CETIN International will support the Group in achieving its climate objectives by actively contributing to the realization of its Science Based Targets.

Progressively reduce electricity consumption reaching 30 GWh savings annually by 2025

We will also invest in energy efficiency solutions and equipment such as technology modernization, power supply, and cooling, allowing us to save substantial amount of electricity consumption.

Reuse, resell or recycle up to 100% of decommissioned network equipment

We will do our best to ensure that maximum of our decommissioned network equipment and other network waste will either be reused, resold, or recycled to minimize amount of such waste ending in landfill or in incineration.

Progress highlights

Reduce Scope 1+2 and Scope 3 GHG emissions

To help achieve the SBTi targets set by our holding company, e&PPF Telecom Group, we have placed strategic focus on several key areas. CETIN Serbia purchases renewable energy certificates covering 100% of electricity powering the network. CETIN Bulgaria concluded a 10-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Electrohold Bulgaria delivering already 21 GWh of renewable electricity in 2023 allowing CETIN Bulgaria to source more than 80% of electricity from renewable resources from September 2023. Substantial progress in rollout of 5G networks and swap of our radio access networks in 2022 and 2023 implicated lower demand for investments in 2024. This strategic focus has led to a reduction in scope 1 and 2 emissions by 39% and committed scope 3 emissions by 44% by 31 December 2024, compared to 2022. Scope 1 and 2 reductions are primary driven by increase of renewable energy purchases in our Bulgarian subsidiary that now account for 28% of total CETIN International energy consumption. In 2025 we are aiming to cover all electricity purchases within Scope 2 with 100% renewable energy. As for scope 3 emission reduction, these are a result of decrease and change in structure of our capital investments and less emission intensive energy supplies.

Progressively reduce electricity consumption reaching 30 GWh savings annually by 2025

We are running a robust Energy Efficiency Program that is, as of 30 September 2025, already delivering approximately 35,22 GWh in annual electricity savings. The Program includes modernizing network equipment, building efficient and smart cooling systems, expanding 5G infrastructure, establishing network sharing agreement in Slovakia, and deploying software and automation to enhance efficiency. Power-saving features have also been implemented across our RAN networks.

Reuse, resell or recycle up to 100% of decommissioned network equipment

We have updated guidance on treatment of decommissioned network assuring that we always seek the reuse of equipment we have dismantled. Only if we cannot find secondary purpose of use, we allow to opt for resell or, as the last instance, recycling. In 2025, CETIN International strengthened its circular economy and waste management initiatives. We shared good practices and conducted ESG surveys to track progress.

Impact stories

Follow our steps towards sustainability and carbon neutrality
CETIN Bulgaria has completed the installation of photovoltaic systems on its data centers
The independent network infrastructure operator CETIN Bulgaria has finished the installation of photovoltaic systems on its data centers (DC) in Sofia and Plovdiv. A system with an expected annual yield of 178.5MWh has been added to the roof of Serdika DC, and a 47.617MWh system now helps power Trakia DC in Plovdiv.
CETIN Bulgaria network goes green: Energy will be sourced from renewable sources
Yettel Bulgaria and CETIN Bulgaria have signed a 10-year power purchasing agreement for the supply of electricity from renewable sources with Elektrohold. The electricity will be provided by a 123MW photovoltaic plant, due to be completed in the spring of 2023. The overall management of the purchase and realization of the supply will be carried out by the leading trader Elektrohold Trade. The company is part of the Electrohold Group, owned by the largest public holding in Bulgaria – Eurohold.
CETIN Czechia has reached another Milestone: the average speed has reached 202 Mbps
CETIN Czechia offers from April 2023 a new tariff that brings even faster connections to users of fiber connections. The newly introduced 2000/1000Mbps tariff allows downloads and uploads at twice the speed of the former tariffs. It was designed especially for customers who work intensively with cloud applications and need to transfer large volumes of data with the highest available speeds.
